Tim O' Brien-smithsonian magazine

This was illustrated for the Smithsonian magazine. the perspective is really cool. The effect is extremely impressive as is the subject matter. Our idea of The Titanic shouldn’t just be of the tragedy but of a behemoth luxury liner beautifully designed and decorated. The piece reflects that here, it chose to focus on the superlative and impressive nature of the ship and not the tragic and sombre memory we have of it, as that’s the angle with which it’s usually portrayed. Though the palette used is dark the use of light tones gives vibrancy and weight.
